The Tube, London Underground

The London Underground, known as The Tube, is the first metro network in the world and is one of the best ways to explore and discover the excitement of the capital of Britain. It is a fast and hassle free way to travel in London without worrying about the pandemonium of the quintessential London Street.


The London Underground is an integral part of the average Londoner and most of the visitors to London too prefer to travel by tube. The fact that every day up to 3 million people travel by Tube is a testament to its popularity. There is a total of 275 stations spread over an area of 408 km, which is covered by the subway or the underground network.
The London Underground, operates for a maximum of 20 hours per day. The Tube railway is divided into six zones and fares can be purchased at ticket counters at all stations. The input and output facilities are very good that all the subway stations are equipped with ticket gates exploited. But tube travel does not come cheap. In fact, the London Underground is the most expensive in the world. It is advisable to buy a travel card, if you travel often by subway. There are provisions for the day, weekend and weekly travel cards, which are very cheap options.
